A candid conversation with long-distance hiker Gerd Nunner.
Tune into an interview with Gerd Nunner. He talks about his Bavarian roots, childhood, professional accomplishments and fascination with the Grand Canyon. What circumstances shaped a young boy from Bavaria? What made him strong physically and mentally? Why is he so crazy about the Grand Canyon? This is a candid look into Gerd's soul and mind. He shares experiences and offers honest advice. He is an extraordinary hiker who walked "Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim" also known as "the Death March" 96 times in the Grand Canyon, and no one comes even close. He has amazing stories to share from hiking in extreme conditions, falling down the cliff to facing death on a few occasions. For me, he is a Role Model in today's world. He has been a long time volunteer. In the past, he helped to coach the high school students. Nowadays he volunteers in the Adaptive Sports Program where he helps people with disabilities to experience skiing in the mountains of Santa Fe. He is a self-made man whom I admire. Capturing all amazing Gerd's stories is impossible. I am sure we can have him back in the future. HI Sasha! I just found this after running into Gerd this morning - I am sharing it with my friends who are hiking the Grand Canyon with me next year.
